Upcoming forum and Human Rights in the Workplace public workshops scheduled for spring 2013

It's not too late to register for an upcoming forum in Calgary and Human Rights in the Workplace public workshops in Edmonton and Calgary!

Forum: Accommodating mental and physical disabilities in the workplace
Calgary: June 12, 2013

The Alberta Human Rights Commission and the Human Resources Institute of Alberta are offering a breakfast forum for employers to discuss potential challenges in accommodating employees with physical and mental disabilities. The forum takes place in Calgary on June 12, 2013.

Janice Ashcroft, Senior Legal Counsel, Office of the Chief of the Commission and Tribunals for the Alberta Human Rights Commission, will provide an overview of the duty to accommodate, including rights and responsibilities during all stages of the accommodation process. A panel of industry and agency experts will be available to address questions from the participants.

Human Rights in the Workplace public workshops
Edmonton: May 14 and June 5, 2013

Calgary: May 30 and June 26, 2013

These workshops are recommended for:

  • business owners
  • executives, managers and supervisors,
  • human resource professionals,
  • union representatives, and
  • anyone interested in learning more about human righs in the workplace.

The full-day workshops will provide participants with:

  • an overview of Alberta's human rights legislation,
  • key information on the Duty to accommodate and its application in the workplace, and
  • an understanding of harassment in the workplace and strategies to prevent such harassment.

The full-day workshops will also provide participants with an understanding of respectful and inclusive workplaces and strategies to create such workplaces.

The workshops qualify for points towards Certified Human Resources Professional recertification.  Read more about recertification points.
